About The Author

Kathleen, or Katie, as she is best known by, is a new writer of children’s books. She has written two books to date with a sequel due in late fall. “Grandma, Tell Me A Story” is a collection of short stories. These stories by Grandma started off on long car rides and overnight visits with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren would beg for her to tell them stories about the old days. The tales she told them came from her life in the country between the ages of 6 and 8 years of age. It was very different from the big city which had been her home. Her new life was full of adventure and memorable events that had a lasting impact on her young life. There were exciting days of fighting fires, snakes to watch out for, driving a team of mules, to quieter moments of entertaining old folks, farm life, and capturing lizards and frogs. Though the stories are exciting, there are insightful growing up pains and wisdom. These tales have captured the imagination of her young audience through the years, so she decided to write the stories down for them and all little children who just love to hear a good story.

Kathleen has a new book arriving in the second week in November. Grandma, Tell Me A Story – 2 (Old-Fashioned Christmas) will publish in time for the Christmas holidays. If you enjoyed the tales in Book 1, Book 2 will be sure to please. This story is about a family celebrating Christmas in their country home and a poignant tale of a little girl who wants something she is not quite ready for yet. She does overcome though and learns a valuable lesson. It is also a story of “real” life in the old days.

About The Book

“Grandma, Tell Me A Story” (Tales about Mules, Snakes, and Fires in the Country)

Stories of our past keep our family history alive! It is the glue that binds families together and connects us to our roots. Culture, history and origin become lost unless we recount our stories.

This is a collection of short stories written about a child who experienced vast changes in her life at the age of 6 years old. Her parents moved from a large city to a small rural community of mostly farm land and ranching. She was not at all daunted by this move but instead found it to be very exciting and full of adventure. Real stories are told about running from a mad cow, driving a mule and wagon, to fighting a raging fire. These stories are the author’s history of her childhood. She invites other grandmas to tell their stories too!

GRANDMA, TELL ME A STORY – 2 (Old-Fashioned Christmas)

Christmas is a very special holiday for all children who celebrate it. Christians commemorate this day as the birth of Christ, and other faiths honor this day simply because it is such a wonderful, giving season of love. The two stories in this book are poignant and take you back to a different time in American life. They take place in a country setting with a family of four observing an “old-fashioned” Christmas. Since this family is originally from a large city, this Christmas took on a special meaning. One of the children, a little girl, learns a special lesson after receiving her dream gift
